Injecting Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a widely used form of treatment in aesthetics medicine and was made popular by Kim Kardashian, with her vampire facelift that went live in one of her reality TV episode. It’s also widely used in sports medicine with many athletes swiftly recovering from injuries, using PRP as part of their treatment.
Compared to PRP, using stem cells as a source for treatment is relatively new and the adoption rate was slow due to the cost to extract the stem cells and the complicated method to extract them (via bone marrow). However with the discovery of Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSC) and the quick method of extraction and processing, using stem cell as the source is a very viable option to treat patients.
So which would you choose and how effective each method is? Read about the difference between Platelet Rich Plasma and Human Stem Cell in our Learn Regenerative Medicine Section and make your own decision.
