Liquid Facelift: What to Know About Non-Surgical Facelifts

What Is a Liquid Facelift?

The liquid facelift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves facial filler and neurotoxin injections. When injected into the skin, these compounds make the face appear younger, smoother, and tighter. Unlike its surgical counterpart, the liquid facelift is quick and has virtually no downtime.

Dr. Steven proudly offers a customized liquid facelifting approach to patients not interested in surgery.

How Does a Liquid Facelift Work?

The liquid facelift uses a combination of dermal fillers and neurotoxins to rejuvenate the face. The fillers he most commonly uses include Voluma, Restylane Lift, Radiesse, Belotero, and Juvéderm. All of these fillers add volume to the face and correct deep lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Dr. Steven does not overfill faces and tends to use less filler as opposed to more. He prefers that results look as natural as possible. Most of the fillers he uses are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in the body.

These hyaluronic acid fillers are particularly effective because they easily diffuse into the face’s tissues. They can also be dissolved away or modified with an injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

To treat smaller lines and wrinkles, Dr. Jacono uses neurotoxic compounds, such as BOTOX or Dysport. These temporarily block nerve signals to certain muscles. The skin then tightens, and the underlying muscles relax. Usually, these neurotoxins are injected into the brows, eyes, and lips.

Do Non-Surgical Facelifts Work for People Over 50?

The liquid facelift is best suited for men and women in their 30s and 40s. It is also effective for patients in their 50s who exhibit mild to moderate signs of facial aging. Non-surgical facelifts can fill wrinkles, add volume to hollow areas, and augment certain parts of the face, like the cheeks.

Patients should be aware that more advanced signs of aging are better treated by a surgical facelift. This is because surgical facelifts directly manipulate skin, muscle, and tissue. Surgical facelifts also last much longer than liquid facelifts.

Benefits of a Liquid Facelift

The liquid facelift has many benefits. First and foremost, it is a non-invasive procedure. Therefore, it does not require incisions or anesthesia. It also has no downtime, meaning patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. The procedure is also more affordable than a surgical facelift.

For all its benefits, the non-surgical facelift has a few drawbacks. For example, it is best for patients in their 30s and 40s and provides temporary relief from complex symptoms. It can also become expensive with repeat treatments.

Which Areas of the Face Can Be Treated?

Liquid facelifts can treat a number of facial areas. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Jowls
  • Jawline
  • Marionette lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Cheeks
  • Under-eye hollows
  • Eyelids
  • Forehead
  • Eye Brows
  • Platysmal neck bands

Non-surgical facelifts aim to restore lost volume to patients’ faces and eliminate wrinkles in a variety of different areas. For example, Dr. Jacono may inject fillers into a patient’s cheekbones to make the cheeks appear fuller. He may also redefine the jawline to reduce jowls. In some cases, he lifts sagging eyebrows and reverses dark circles under the eyes. This can all be accomplished without invasive techniques.

Depending on the patient’s goals, Dr. Steven will use a combination of dermal fillers and neurotoxins.

How Long Do Liquid Facelift Results Last?

On average, a liquid facelift will last about one year. However, certain variables such as skin type, lifestyle, and injection type may affect how long results last.

Dr. Jacono formulates a customized regimen for each patient that extends the duration of results. In some cases, patients will need to return for touch-up appointments to maintain the integrity of their outcomes.

Are there any Risks Associated with Liquid Facelifts?

Liquid facelift procedures are safe and carry little risk of serious complications. In some cases, patients may experience bruising, tenderness, or swelling in treatment areas. If this occurs, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications can provide relief.

Dr. Steven provides instructions and guidelines to all patients after the procedure is completed. These include recommendations for proper self-care and methods of prolonging results.

Am I a Good Liquid Facelift Candidate?

Anyone who wants to rejuvenate their appearance without surgery is a good candidate for a liquid facelift. Dr. Steven regularly performs this procedure on patients as young as 40 to as old as 70. Non-surgical facelift treatments work on all skin types and restore facial shape and contour better than topical creams.

Liquid facelift patients should be in good physical and mental health. They should not be allergic to certain medications. During your consultation, Dr. Steven will determine whether the liquid facelift is the right choice for you.
