How to treat Premature Ejaculation – ED

Premature Ejaculation Treatment

We offer a variety of personalized ED treatments that’ll work for your specific medical needs.

Sometimes PE is a problem for men who have erection problems (erectile dysfunction or ED). This is when men are not able to get or keep an erection that’s firm enough for sex. Since an erection goes away after ejaculation, it can be tough to know if the problem is PE or ED. ED should be treated first. Premature ejaculation may not be a problem once the ED is treated.

Erectile dysfunction (ED), is a serious men’s sexual health issue that affects more men than many think. Regardless of age, we understand that normal sexual function is important to you and your partner.

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the difficulty in achieving an erection, or the inability to maintain an erection and reach climax (ejaculation). Some men that are diagnosed with ED can achieve a partial erection; however, they struggle to reach a full erection. Although many men experience symptoms regularly, some men with ED will experience symptoms sporadically, and the erection issues may not always be present.

Common Causes

With a healthy erection, the brain provides a signal to the spinal cord to increase blood flow to the pelvic region. Once a substantial amount of blood flows to the penis, an erection occurs. However, if the blood doesn’t flow properly to the penis, men will begin to experience erectile dysfunction.

Serotonin

Though the exact cause of PE is not known, serotonin may play a role. Serotonin is a natural substance in your body made by nerves. High amounts of serotonin in the brain increase the time to ejaculation. Low amounts can shorten the time to ejaculation, and lead to PE.

Many causes of ED are centered around conditions that impact the body’s nerves or vessels that carry blood throughout the body, below are just a few common causes:

  • Abuse of alcohol or drugs
  • Blood vessel injuries or diseases
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Obesity
  • Hormonal problems, like low testosterone
  • Neurological system injuries
  • Pelvic area injuries
  • Medications that are used for neurological function or blood flow altering
  • Exposure of the pelvic region to radiation
  • Psychological problems like anxiety, depression or self-esteem
